Genetics data
Molecular karyotype and copy number variant.
500 epilepsy participants (18-67 years)
The Australian Epilepsy Project (AEP) welcomes external researchers to leverage our comprehensive dataset to drive innovative studies and insights that can improve epilepsy care and outcomes.
With the Australian Epilepsy Project (AEP) you get access to 3 main data types. This rich dataset is designed to support a wide range of research objectives, from understanding the underlying mechanisms of epilepsy to developing personalised treatment strategies.
Molecular karyotype and copy number variant.
500 epilepsy participants (18-67 years)
Evaluations of cognitive function.
500 epilepsy participants (18-67 years)
300 healthy volunteers (18-67 years)
High resolution MRI data.
500 epilepsy participants (18-67 years)
300 healthy volunteers (18-67 years)
Data on a range of exposures and health outcomes that are difficult to assess via routine health records, including diet, alcohol consumption, sleep and quality of life.

Researchers can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to request access to AEP’s data.
Submit your EOI online. You will need to provide details about your research project, including objectives, methodology and anticipated outcomes.
Once submitted, your EOI will be reviewed by the AEP Data Access Committee. This process may take 4 - 6 weeks, after which you will be notified of the outcome.
If your application is approved, you will be required to sign an agreement outlining the terms of data usage, security and confidentiality.
Once agreements have been signed, data access will be granted.
The Australian Epilepsy Project is made possible through the combined support of The Florey and University of Melbourne.
The Australian Epilepsy Project (AEP) receives funding from the Australian Government under the Medical Research Future Fund.
We encourage you to contact us directly if you have any additional questions.
Access is open to qualified researchers from academic, clinical and industry backgrounds.
There may be a cost associated with accessing AEP’s dataset, which will be discussed upon approval.
Yes, we encourage publication of research findings providing that they adhere to any agreements executed and proper acknowledgment of AEP is given.
We’re here to help. We’ll be happy to help you with any questions you may have.
